What started as a one wild colony that we trapped out from an old gum tree quickly grew.. very quickly.. Now, as part of our effort to promote public awareness of bees and a wider awareness of pollinator health in the Macedon Ranges and surrounds, all of our colonies began their life as a feral swarm or colony that we rescued.
With the impending arrival of the damaging Varroa mite in the Macedon Ranges, we are seeking to preserve the genetic diversity of the local honeybee population by bringing wild bees under our management and protection from biosecurity threats.
We can only do this with your help!
Keep reporting those swarms and wild colonies!
